Project name: Hazelmere

The Hazelmere Project is a flagship waste-to-energy development delivered through a collaboration between Anergy, the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC), and Aus Industry, providing direct renewable electricity supply to Perth Airport.
The plant is installed at an existing waste timber recycling facility, where all viable reuse options for timber are exhausted, leaving residual material otherwise destined for landfill.
To reduce disposal costs and environmental impact, an Anergy High Temperature Pyrolysis system is directly integrated with the site’s waste wood shredding operation. The project generates 3 MW of renewable baseload electricity and has been recognised as a best-practice waste-to-energy case study in the Handbook of Clean Energy Systems (Wiley, 2015).
Its innovation has been further validated through significant funding support from the Australian Federal Government under the Clean Technology Innovation Programme.
